The school I teach in is an urban elementary magnet school. The students are amazing and smart little kids. Most of them come from a very low socio-economic upbringing and often times have difficult home lives. These kids are so inspirational, enthusiastic and resilient. The school has an emphasis on multiple intelligences, which allows the students to learn about academic subjects from different perspectives. I teach physical education (“bodily-kinesthetics”) for students in grades 3-5. This means that the students learn about physical fitness and skills from a wide variety of angles, including a focus on literacy and mathematical skills, science concepts, music, art and “people skills.”
