My classroom environment is in need of a high quality that meets the safety guidelines of our district. A rug can be a place to stretch out, a place to be calm, a place to exhale during school when students are expected to be on task and do their best. A quality area rug can provide students with a safe calming area where they can reflect, stretch out to relax, read, and work in the classroom. The cool colors, varied spaces, and alternative seating of a rug can meet students’ needs of a space to feel comfortable and ready to work. Although I have a small number of students assigned in my room, the project will be utilized by many other students as well who navigate to my class outside of regular class hours.
