I teach at a small, rural school on the west side of the San Joaquin valley of California. I am the science department chair and teach two subjects: Biology and Human Anatomy & Physiology. The community is made up of mostly poor farm laborers whose children have little or no access to essential materials for class. With the type of students in our school, I try to provide as many hands on learning experiences as I can. Having these activities really helps engage the students and enhance the learning process, along with increasing retention of the material.
