These materials will make a difference in my student's lives because it brings to light the human rights violations of the world and teaches them how we can prevent things like this from happening. It also allows students to think critically and meets ELA Common Core Standards and History Common Core Standards. Overall, Diary of Young Girl and the unit itself will teach students how to overcome challenges while thinking about history from the perspective of the those that experience it. This unit will also use materials from Facing History and Yourselves to support this goal of empathy and understanding as well as taking action.
