Mindfulness and helping students connect during their transition to our middle school is a must! This project looks to bring a mindful environment through dim lighting, a singing bowl, and a jellyfish lava lamp complete with calming music (through Bluetooth) to my school counseling office. Additionally, you will be funding games and tools for counseling sessions along with books for book clubs and mindful meditation. Sixth-grade students and students within our school's KIDS program (a program for students with learning disabilities, autism, anxiety, and/or trauma) will all benefit in learning how to self-regulate, cooperate, and calm. My goal is to help new students feel welcome, and to build relationships with them so that they can grow as individuals by achieving their personal, social, and emotional goals! Our middle school students have shown so much strength and perseverance through multiple pandemic years. Please consider helping to fund this project in an effort to take care of their mental health. Students learn best when they feel safe and calm!
