Math knowledge starts at a young age. I want to provide the opportunity for my gifted and talented students to develop a love for math by using "The Hands-on Equations Set" regularly in class. Students will be able to access the materials when in their gifted and talented classroom. The students will also utilize the additional resources to create additional classroom sets of manipulatives. These sets will be stored in the plastic containers to be used by more students. With these items the students will be able to solve algebraic problems using the hands on manipulatives. These manipulatives and lessons will advance the students algebraic thinking. These materials will give them a head start in middle school math concepts. Following the introduction of the hands on manipulatives the students will be given an opportunity to teach their parents the critical thinking skills necessary in algebraic thinking.
