We recently introduced the students in K-5th to the Touchcast App on the iPad that allows them to transport themselves to faraway places using the Green Screen technology. They can become newscasters and take you on location to the desert, or demonstrate new math skills incorporating interactive video and whiteboards or retell a story placing themselves on location in another state, country or setting. Using their imagination and ingenuity and the green screen technology they can find pictures from anywhere in the world and make it look as if they are there on location. 5th graders are studying presidents and presenting newscasts from the presidents place of birth, then going onsite to a memorial commemorating that president. There are no limits to their creativity! We have recently painted three different walls in the school green but the students have trouble holding the iPads still and at the correct height while recording. So by having a tripod that will securely hold their iPad it allows them to have their hands free to manage the App and not worry about holding the iPad still while having free fingers to select the necessary buttons. We are excited about getting the tripods for our projects!
