Our classroom has one working computer that we take turns sharing. This year our district is using Guided Reading Centers. This allows me to pull books based on individual students' reading levels and work with them. Chromebooks would allow me to use the computer as an additional center during reading time. 2nd graders need lots of practice with reading to improve their fluency and comprehension skills. Having the Chromebooks means that students would have access to the many programs already provided to use through our district. Reading programs such as MyOn and Learning A-Z allows students to listen to stories while they are read aloud to them. Also, these reading programs will allow me to differentiate by being able to choose stories that are on the students' individual levels. There are hundreds of great online stories. Please help me as I work to help my students!
