Greetings from Bakersfield, California and welcome to our classroom in the country. My aides and I teach children with Autism in a program operated by our county. Students come from far and wide to attend school, as there aren't any schools that can serve their needs in their home districts. Some ride the school bus for an hour to and from school each day. My students are some of the funniest and brightest students you will ever meet. Although, the way they express these qualities is different from most typically developing children. They are my inspiration. For them, I re-commit myself to the teaching profession and it is for them that I write this donation request. Our students would like STEM materials that meet their sensory needs. This is how they learn (touch, see, manipulate). To be specific, our students love problem solving and engineering. They often try to build cars and houses out of empty milk cartons.
