My students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Many of my students are being raised by single parents, grandparents, foster families, or other relatives. In our globally progressive society my students are not exposed to cultural differences and have a very limited knowledge of the world outside of our town. Most of my students do not have people outside of school who encourage them to read or model the flow of language while reading. The CD will bring the story to life in a manner my students really need to hear so they can develop their own voice as readers.
