My students need a colorful rug and six cotton pillows for their independent reading area. They also need 15 headphones so that they can utilize the large number of books on tape in my classroom. My students' main focus is increasing their independent reading level. We work on this daily. I want to make this a more interactive and inviting experience for my students. My students love to sprawl out on the floor and get lost in book. By providing them with pillows and a rug, I hope to encourage even the most stubborn reader with a comfortable spot to focus on their books. The headphones will allow my struggling to readers to hear the text they are reading. This multiple presentation format will aid my students who sometimes need to 'hear' what they are reading.
