The books that I am requesting for my class already have their spot in our room. Meaning, I know exactly how and when these first graders will use them independently, and how we will use them as a class. My students are always looking for new stories to read when practicing our latest strategies. The books would double as a resource for guided reading groups and for independent reading during centers. Expanding our library will allow these young learners their independence in choosing a book, so their learning will be interest-based and self-motivated. The books will be well-loved and used daily for years to come!
