At my school, 58% of third graders were proficient or above on state standardized tests. As a classroom, my students and I are determined to change this number. With an iPad, my students will have the opportunity to engage in online reading interventions! The iPad will be part of our reading workshops so students will rotate through centers, allowing all students to benefit from this technology. During writing, the iPad will be available so students can work on our classroom blog, using Google Drive, to teach students how to use the Internet for more than Facebook and Twitter! As the classroom teacher, I will be able to use apps, such as Class Dojo, to track positive behaviors in the classroom so I can reinforce students who are taking academic risks, showing great effort, and staying on-task. In addition, we will use the app Too Noisy, which will help students monitor their voice level to keep the environment of our classroom a place where everyone can learn. Your donation will have a large impact on my classroom! With your help, we can provide my students with up-to-date technology that will help them grow as digital citizens, while also accessing resources that will help improve their academic achievement! With your support, we hope to show how one simple change in the classroom can have dramatic increases on the learning and motivation of my students.
