As part of Readers Workshop, students are free to choose topics that interest them. Many of my students have limited opportunities for enriching life experiences, yet love nonfiction books and learning about the world around them. They need access to books on a variety of subjects as many have limited resources at home and little access to information on line. Your generous donation will enhance our classroom library of leveled nonfiction books. Students will use these books to explore new subjects, compare information from different texts, explore text features employed by different authors, and research topics to share with their classmates. The book collections I have selected will supplement and update our current classroom library and give my students beautiful new books to inspire them to read and learn more and more every day! My goal is to have 4-5 quality books on 30-40 high interest subjects for my students to choose from.
