Students are exposed to our changing world through polar science. Over the past 7 years, our school-wide polar studies have included writing letters to polar scientists, presentations by polar scientists, polar STEM activities, connecting with schools in the polar regions, following expeditions to polar regions, and many investigations. Engaging students with models of how current science and data was gathered in the polar regions doubles the curiosity, understanding, and enjoyment of learning. As a teacher who was chosen to participate in polar science on an ice breaker, I share pictures and videos with the students but the building and use of the models will greatly impact students' learning. They will create a diorama with the models.to display and explain how different data is collected and used to understand our changing world.
