Flexible seating gives students a chance to get the wiggles out and open their mind to creativity. Teaching in a Title I school where 100% of the students receive free or reduced rate lunch and breakfast, these kiddos don't have the necessities at home to keep them alert and healthy. Flexible seating would inspire my kiddos to do anything they put their mind to. A Hokki stool could take a student to a whole new world. While writing, they may pretend they are on a space ship that slightly moves side to side. They may be a pirate trying to solve the world's toughest math problem. I can only imagine the amount of learning my kids will have when they are able to freely move while sitting in a Hokki stool. The kids in my classroom are not able to have their wants or needs met at home. When they walk into my classroom, I want them to forget about their worries and focus more on the endless possibilities available if they can just believe. There are times when students' home lives become such a distraction that they just need a safe place to relax and forget about their worries. I feel as if a Hokki stool would encourage a student to focus on their work while getting the wiggles out at the same time. Students would become excited to learn!
