Many students have attention and sensory struggles, which make it hard to focus during seated time in the classroom. Movement and sensory breaks help, but the wiggles and distraction caused by wiggles continue to be a barrier to learning in my second and third grade classroom. I believe that all of my students will benefit from access to wiggle seats, which is why I am requesting 16 of the Hokki stools. Every day, I see students struggle to sit in their stationary seats. Students routinely fall out of their seats after rocking or sitting in odd, contortionist-like positions! I hope that these new seats will provide my students with the stimulus that they often seek in inappropriate, distracting or even unsafe ways... so they can focus on becoming stronger readers, writers, mathematicians and scientists. Thank you for considering this project!
