Writing is an integral part of any English class. While my students are given opportunities to write, they need to be able to practice real-world typing skills. Not only is typing a skill they will need in the future, but the written portion of our state test is also all computer-based. If they are not able to practice this skill, they will be at a disadvantage come Spring when taking the test. Our Title 1 school was lucky to receive a grant allowing our students access to iPads for the school year. Unfortunately, typing an essay on an iPad is not the easiest thing to do. These Bluetooth keyboards will allow my students to type their essays and responses to literature in a more efficient manner. A Bluetooth keyboard will help my students in numerous ways. Having access to an external keyboard gives students a bigger view of the iPad screen. This is a huge plus when typing on a program like Word Online or Google Docs. These keyboards will also assist in teaching my students typing skills that are essential for career readiness and our state writing exam.
