At any age it is difficult to spend extended periods of time in an uncomfortable seat. Flexible seating would provide a more comfortable option for students and also reduce distractions to others. I have noticed several students are constantly up and down trying to get comfortable; these twenty stability balls would reduce distractions to both themselves and to their peers. At six years old its difficult to just sit in a hard chair for extended periods of time. These would make a great alternative to metal chairs. Students move their chairs all around until they find a comfortable position. Flexible seating would also benefit our students during daily 5 choice time. Because they are so light weight, students could move them freely around the room during choice time. They would not be limited to just using them at their desks.
