The single word that best describes our students is DIVERSE. We are an urban public school in downtown Manhattan. Racially, we are a truly diverse school: roughly 40% of our students are Latino, 20% Asian, 20% African American, and 20% Caucasian. We come from many socioeconomic levels, yet we are also a Title l funded school; more than 60% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our students have a wide range of abilities: about 22% of our students are Special Education students, many are English Language Learners, and yet many of our eighth graders go on to selective public high schools in NYC. Despite our many differences, one thing binds us all together -- we LOVE our school community!
