Prior to the beginning of this school year, I implemented some flexible seating options in our classroom. I wanted to provide alternate choices to the traditional table and chair sitting. I want my kiddos to be able to choose where they want to do their work. My classroom had three sets of the traditional tables and chairs. I chose to offer a variety of table options – a tall table for standing, a low table for pillow seating, and a traditional table with chairs. I added numerous clipboards for portability of assignments within the classroom, whether they choose to sit throughout the room or lie on the carpet. Flexible seating accommodates ALL learners! My students love being able to pick their own seating option each day! However, we would like to add more options in our classroom to allow students more opportunities to suit their learning style and provide them the perfect opportunity to achieve their best work possible. We all know we all learn in different ways, so why would I not provide different ways for my students to learn to their greatest potential! This is what I want for my students!! I want them to have options to choose from in order to be comfortable, to achieve their best work, and to overall feel good about themselves!
