Bienvenidos to my classroom full of wonderful 4 year Kinders! My name is Kaytie Donald and I absolutely LOVE teaching my 21 4K students! My classroom consists of LOTS of hands-on activities, technology, and movement! However, we are a special school family because we are bilingual! Many of my students begin school speaking only Spanish or a Spanish Dialect. I use bilingual strategies to immerse my students in the English Language! As emergent English language learners, my students need hands on experience with the language that incorporates auditory, visual, and kinesthetic opportunities that aid in their language development. Research has shown that the critical age for language development is from birth to age 5. After age 5, language becomes more difficult to learn. My goals as an immersion teacher is to give my students every opportunity for language development possible!
