The supplies I am requesting, already have a purpose. I already know how I can use them / will use them. Lets just say, its either going to be donated or coming out of my pocket. We need these supplies. Like I said, the supplies I am requesting already have a purpose. The beads I will use with my girls group ( and other ways, but right now for my girls group). I will do an activity with the girls titled "what type of friend are you?" and with this activity each bead color will represent a different quality (purple - loyal, etc.). The Soft Seats and books will help to create a "calm down" corner in my office which will be used for students who need to take a break and "calm down" before returning back to class. Requested books include It's Mine!, Growing Up, Inside and Out and Therapy games, and Positive Visualizations (eBook). Sensory is a big deal, especially when working with elementary school students. It is imperative to let the students feel part of a discussion and group rather than having them feel like they are being told. Students need to feel important and purposeful. I plan on helping students grow from not only the outside, but the inside, grow into caring, loving, hard working students that they already are.
