I am hoping to find funding to purchase an iPad for my classroom of special learners. My students are in need of one iPad to use discrete trial training software to learn to identify letters, numbers, shapes, and sight words, objects, etc. This software is customizable to the individual student. Teaching these skills to my students allows them to function and engage in their general education classrooms where they can be included with non-disabled peers and remain part of their classroom community. The discrete trial training procedure has been thoroughly researched, tested and shown to be effective for students with autism and other disabilities. This project, the donation of one iPad will impact 5 students with special needs this year, but more in years to come. The software also assists the teacher in data collection freeing up my time to focus on interacting with my students.
