Our class currently has one iPad. We use it daily during our center time to practice literacy skills. Some days this includes reading and listening to audio books. Other times individual students use it for the literacy programs "Imagine Learning" or "Raz-Kids". For students who struggle with letter formation, we utilize handwriting apps that help develop and refine fine motor skills. I am asking for two iPads with durable cases for my 2nd-grade classroom so that we can enhance student access to technology. I have tried to create lessons and activities utilizing the technology we have available; but with a single iPad, I am limited in what I can do with my students. The addition of two more iPads would allow my students to have greater individualized time to practice academic skills. During math, iPads will be used to help my lower academic students practice their math facts and challenge my higher academic students to explore their place value and addition with regrouping knowledge. These iPads open up doors to differentiate student learning throughout the day and provide more students with access to iPads on a regular basis.
