It has been proven that software on iPads can increase both verbal and non verbal communication for students with autism spectrum disorder. My students have challenges communicating and an iPad that could become their method of communication will increase their communication skills. All students deserve an opportunity to learn how to express themselves, the students I serve just need an extra bit of help! We will use the iPads in the classroom to increase communication through the use of Proloquo software or a picture exchange communication system. Students can touch pictures and icons representing things they want and need, as well as greetings and responses to classroom instruction.
