My students attend a school that has, for four years been on the "Needs to Improve" list. Last year a huge number of teachers left the school due to its challenging nature, leaving much of the reading instruction to full time substitutes. One third of the students in the 7th grade read below a third grade level. If we don't catch these kids up now it will be too late.
