Flexible seating creates a learning environment that empowers student choice, increases student engagement and improves student participation. Students need to wiggle and move and studies show that when they are moving they are more likely to focus and learn. Students are more engaged, cooperative, and collaborative when they are able to make their own choice of where and how they learn. Flexible seating/learning environments provide new ways to differentiate and cater to different learning styles. Wiggle stools, bouncy bands and rockers lend themselves more to a kinesthetic learner. Allowing for student movement increases student core strength and promotes better thinking.
