At the beginning of the year, most students come with backpacks filled full of supplies to aide in their learning adventures; however, some students come with very little. Many of my students are not able to refill their buckets with supplies once they run out. The most common types of supplies that we run short on are: pencils, markers, crayons, white board markers etc. My students use white board makers and erasers on a daily basis to help check for understanding. They are also the first supply to run out because we use them so much in class. Students will be using these supplies on a daily basis and having them will help them feel more prepared to face the adventures that await them. Having a classroom set of supplies will really benefit those students who may not have the funds to provide their own refill of supplies throughout the entire school year. Little things like: pencil top erasers, pencils, rulers, art supplies; all help my students feel a little more prepared for their day.
