I teach in a lower income, rural community. We are a close-nit school community that does what ever it takes for our kids. I teach prek through first grade special education. I have students that have a range of disabilities from learning disabilities to Autism. They spend most of their day in a large general education classroom and come to me for periods of time throughout the day to learn in a smaller more intensive and individualized setting. My kiddos are a unique group of energetic learners. They often struggle with mastery of skills and benefit from learning in different methods like hands-on learning and opportunities to incorporate movement into each lesson. These kids want to learn and want to succeed they just have to take their own unique path to get there and it is my job to guide them on this path!
