I will be conducting "book talks" in all fifth grade classes to promote reading as a enjoyable activity. Book talks increase demand for the titles that are presented. By having a variety of titles with multiple copies, I will be able to conduct book talks with all classes and have enough copies available for students to check out. Book talks will create and excitement for reading and change students' attitude towards books. My ultimate goal is that by instilling the love for reading. My students will become inveterate readers and life long learners. The constant exposure to appropriate reading and interest level literature will change my students perception of reading from something boring or difficult to a recreational activity and as a fun tool to explore any interests they have and learn new things.
