One of my primary responsibilities is to foster a love of reading. Our school supports this goal by providing us with an extensive library of fiction and nonfiction books. We would like to add to the richness of our collection with a variety of magazines including Time for Kids. This will allow students to engage in reading while exploring relevant, engaging, and timely articles and stories. Through their reading, they will not just learn about different perspectives through stories and articles, but also develop their literacy skills and critical thinking. Students will be encouraged to research further into topics that interest them, encouraging them to take action and grow as inquirers. This will also help to supplement our social studies and science units. The content and skills learned through reading the magazines can be adapted to all subject areas. It's the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone! The table top display will be a great way for the students to access the magazines.
