This school year my medically fragile special education preschool most of my students suffer from seizures. I have 12 Fluorescent lights in my classroom that are extremely bright. On the website Epilepsy.com "Knowing what triggers your seizures can help you recognize when one may be coming and help you be prepared to lessen the chance that one may occur the next time you face a similar trigger." What are some commonly reported triggers? • Flashing bright lights or patterns Bright fluorescent lighting can trigger a seizure and that can be scary when that is the lighting I have in my classroom. If the seizure lasts more then 5 minutes that could cause brain damage. Once I have installed the Fluorescent light covers, the students will be able to enjoy their school day with one more seizure trigger eliminated. I have three light switches in my classroom and I have a sign on the switch plate to only turn one light on. That makes the room dark and difficult to see the work they are doing. The fluorescent light covers once installed will make an environment conducive to learning.
