My students need 40 novels of Wonder that will captivate their little reader's minds and whisk them away in a fantasy world that is a reflection of our own. Bullying is a problem that affects millions of students. The two main reasons behind bullying is because their appearance or social status. Wonder is a phenomenal book that takes us into the life of Auggie who was born with facial abnormalities. This book will help my students relate to these themes and how Auggie desires to want to fit in, not stand out. Wonder will have a positive impact on my classroom culture. I know that this extraordinary book offers many opportunities for lessons on bullying, friendship and overcoming challenges with my students. When my students read this story they are able to read and identify with different characters in the book and see things or situations through their perspectives. They will also understand Auggie himself, his impact on those around him, and his place in the world.
