Currently my students utilize white boards during our math and spelling sessions. More often than not our pens run out of ink, caps go missing, and erasing the ink with our hands is very messy. This process is such an ordeal that we are missing valuable minutes of instruction and learning. With the use of Boogie Boards students would be able to easily and quickly grab their device and get started working with their partner. The Boogie Board would allow students the opportunity to use their device to practice the day's lesson, be it addition or subtraction equations, facts families, or tallying. One other great benefit of these tablets is my left handed first graders won't need to worry about their ink smearing or erasing as they write! The digital divide is evident at our school and my goal is to decrease this technology gap. Our school is situated in the older part of town and our school is 50 years old. In recent years, our school district has expanded and built several new elementary schools. With technology advancements on the rise, these newer schools have more state of the art devices in their classrooms. Having my students utilize Boogie Boards would be one step closer to getting technology in their hands and close our technology gap.
