Support Mrs. Woods-Tynes' classroom with a gift that fosters learning.
My students enjoy reading and reciting poems and songs. After we discuss key information and word study, they memorize them and take turns reciting and sing them out loud to the classroom. Once we have mastered a few, we visit and encourage other classrooms and even the school office at times. Students are mesmerized by hearing their own voice magnified through a speaker. Having a portable microphone and speaker would enhance their voices and their participation. This will apply to all classes, even singing a jump rope rhyme during recess or Physical Education. Having a portable microphone and speaker will not only help fulfill the listening and speaking standards for our grade level, but it will also enhance speaking abilities and give voice to those students who are shy and many times lack the confidence to participate.
One of our goals is to encourage the rest of the school through songs and poems. Having a portable speaker and microphone will make that goal so much more a reality. Currently the students are in the process of learning "Live My Life" by Marc Anthony, and they are bursting with pride to read it, sing it and dance to it! Then, of course, the final step is to share it with the rest of the school.
