In my World History classroom, students engage in projects where they conduct thorough and collaborative research and then are encouraged to create something from what they have learned. Students are given choices in how to present their voice: building websites, designing memorials for an event, creating works of art, recording podcasts, filming and editing videos, and more. Often, I find my most creative students struggle to get the supplies to create the items they are dreaming of. Because of this, I hope to start building my classroom makerspace with some of the key digital items we need to get students making videos, recording podcasts, and making music. Having a blue snowball microphone will allow students to create podcasts, record songs they have written, and record verbal responses that will be high quality. Students will feel comfortable sharing with the world. A green screen will allow students to take video production and editing to the next level by allowing them to put their film anywhere in the world and challenging them to explore video editing techniques. The iPad tri-pod will make it easier for students to record videos and podcasts using the iPad Mini I have already donated to my classroom. These three items may seem small but combined with the iPad we already have, and the limitless imagination of my students, they will allow students to produce high quality movies, podcasts, pictures, songs, and more and allow them to better explore the world of video editing, graphic design, audio recording, and more!
