My students are from a rural, small town environment. Additionally, the school district is in a low socio-economic area. Many of the children have never been out of the area; let alone out of the state. Technology is their key to understanding the bigger picture of life and to understand the possibilities that lie outside of our community. This year alone, over half of the children in the classroom have no computer in their home. Additionally, more than half of the children are reading below grade level expectations. Differentiation is the key to each child achieving greater academic success. Through the use of specialized apps, children's individualized needs can be met on a daily basis. This can be accomplished in or out of the classroom through child-friendly tablets.
