Having these requested activity tables in my classroom instead of desks will encourage collaboration among my budding teachers. This class is not a traditional class and therefore the classroom needs to not be traditional either. There are so many activities and projects that we do in this class that make room arrangement such an important factor. Students work on making picture books together to read at the local elementary schools. In groups, they make model preschools with learning centers that teach them how preschoolers learn. They will learn the elements needed to create lesson plans and lesson plan together as they practice team teaching different content. They work together in simulations that put them in the position of parent, teacher, administrator, and community member. Most importantly, we discuss the current state of education in our country as a whole group.
