These character Education books will be used in my first grade classroom to teach and support good character and school and classroom Etiquette. In first grade I have learned that students are at a crucial point in needing knowledge of kindness, manners, acceptance and respect. These books used as read alouds, independent reading and small group lessons will help students learn and practice attributes of good character. In first grade we have students who are desperate to speak out and gain attention that a read aloud and mini lesson including the book "My Mouth is a Volcano" by Julia Cook can be beneficial in teaching students the kinds of things that can be said and a technique that teaches students when is best to speak. I would love to use this text to support students and give them confidence when they speak at correct times.
