My 3rd grade students need a listening center to help enhance their fluency and comprehension. My struggling readers need access to literature that is both fun and informational. My goal to give my below level readers need access and exposure to 3rd grade text in order give them tools to increase their fluency and comprehension. Recent research studies have identified strategies that are most likely to improve reading fluency. One such strategy is modeled reading. Once fluency increases, comprehension increases because the students can focus on content rather than decoding. This listening center will be used for many years with countless students in a variety of ways.
