Being a first year teacher, and coming into an empty classroom in a district where no classroom budget is allotted, I have had to get creative making hands-on learning available for my kindergarten students. My students will have the opportunity to use these materials throughout the day in math and literacy centers. They will also be given the opportunity to use these supplies during their center time where they are able to work with their classmates. These materials will create a fun, engaging environment for my students. These materials will reach students who learn through multiple intelligence's and promote both fine and gross motor skills. Having Lincoln Logs, Magnatiles, soft small and large building blocks, bricks and pipes and a train set as options during the center portion of the day will allow my students to use their imagination, as well as spatial and sharing skills. Magnetic letters and stamps will give my students a new way of creating their names, high frequency words and practicing letter recognition and sounds in addition to writing on paper. While my students, may not have engaging learning experiences outside of school, with these supplies, I can assure my students will build both academic and social skills within my classroom!
