I have taught at my Title I school for 15 years. I plan to start a College Culture Classroom Project this year in hopes of getting my students to start thinking about and planning for college. Excellent reading comprehension and learning to read for a variety of purposes are both fundamental skills for success in secondary school and college. For that reason, I would like to add more informational texts to my classroom library. I would also like for my students to be able to participate in our school's weekly "Wear A College T-shirt to School on Mondays" activity. At this time, none of my student's have a college t-shirt to wear. I believe having a college shirt of their own would give them a personal connection to a Florida university and would help them believe that if they work hard, they too could go to college one day.
