In an effort to increase reading at home we will be creating book clubs based on the books students choose to take home to read. The composition notebooks will be used to make notes for club discussions in class. The book bags will help keep club materials (book, notebook, book mark, pencil, etc.) in one place for easy transport between school and home and the new books will add to the number of titles that can be chosen. The book clubs will help keep students accountable for their at-home reading. Students will choose a book from several options and be placed in a book club with others who have chosen the same title. Twice a week each club will meet to discuss the book they are reading. Discussions will come from notes they have written in their notebooks based on questions about character, plot, predictions, theme, etc. Book choice + Peer accountability = Increase in Reading!
