This project is based on pixel art, using graph paper to come up with colorful "8-Bit" styled designs or scenes. However instead of creating the final project on graph paper students will get to "draw" with more tactile materials. They can work as small teams and choose to make a Post It Note mural, a primarily 2-D Lego project or a pointillism-esque Push Pin Board art piece! The beauty is once the projects are complete, we can critique them, take photos, and then disassemble them for re-use, creating a very Green art project. Even though they will be working in teams, arguing over who gets to keep the final product won't be an issue since students will get to keep prints of their work without anything going to waste. Many students have been begging to get their hands on something other than pencils and markers and paint. The modern spirit, connection to video games, and the idea of building will most certainly appeal to the students who have trouble controlling a pencil.
