Student whiteboards are a must in our classroom. We use them for interactive writing, math problems, spelling practice, reading responses, brainstorming during writer's workshop, and so much more. It's a quick, efficient way for me to check student work without wasting loads of paper. Plus, it's a FUN alternative to paper and pencil. We currently use VERY old and worn out whiteboards that makes it hard for them to write on and hard for me to see. A whiteboard easel with clips is a wonderful way for me to teach lessons from and be in close proximity to my students. I like to do my modeled writing, math problems, science vocabulary, etc.. from it, opposed to the Promethean Board, because then I can display my examples on a wall for my students to refer to later when needed. Our district provides each classroom with androids, which is wonderful, but gets very noisy when my students are working on them. Most of my parents can't afford headphones for their child and my school supply money has already been spent on other classroom materials. We do Daily Five in our classroom which lets students choose where to sit with their bag of books or writing notebook. We use ziplock bags to hold their books which are constantly ripping, so I thought those sturdy book bags would last all year. Our classroom would flow so much nicer with all these materials, but anything at ALL would be appreciated!
