I feel I have finally found my place in the first grade. My students work so hard and seem to really enjoy reading. However, I have noticed that my classroom library doesn't seem to allow each child ample opportunity to read a book at their personal ability level. I am asking for 30 Read Along Pointers, two Library Checkout Charts, a Nonfiction Leveled Books Classroom Library, a Leveled Books Classroom Library 1, two Leveled Library Mobile Storage Carts, a complete series of I Can Read! Readers, and a set of Social Studies Leveled Readers for Grade 1. The more a child reads, the more success they will have in every subject. I want to allow my students the opportunity to not only enjoy reading books at their level in the classroom, but to also allow them that opportunity at home. With these new leveled nonfiction and fiction books, social studies books I Can Read books as well as the storage carts and pointers for our classroom library, my students can explore both fiction and non-fiction topics, at their personal reading level, both in class and at home. Students will have the opportunity to take these books home with them each night. I feel this extra practice at home will allow them to increase their confidence in their ability to read by sharing these books (and their ability to read them successfully) with their families. Thank you for taking the time to read through my project description and considering funding my project.
