Preschool students learn the best in natural environments when they are allowed to play and explore. I want to set up as many opportunities to allow my students to love school and be excited to learn and play! I can use these toys to teach new concepts, work on following directions and increase communication skills in students while playing- the job that preschool students do best! These toys will help me and my fellow Speech Language Pathologists provide fun learning opportunities for speech and language delayed students to practice new language structures and speech sounds so that they can communicate with peers and family. Each toy can be used to generate language. For example, preschoolers will love to play with the colorful flower toy to create their own garden while working on requesting different flowers, stems, and leaves. Children will be able to expand their sentences by adding descriptive words for size and color. We can use the car ramp to work on turn taking, requesting, sharing joint attention, and working on velar sounds (i.e. Go, Go, Go) in order to improve communication. Our students will be able to play with these toys together and create a fun learning environment. With these toys, preschool students will be given experiences to learn new concepts, interact socially, build their imagination, all while improving their communication skills.
