My students participate in sustained silent reading time everyday with books provided in the classroom. This reading time is incredibly valuable to young learners. As a second year teacher, many of the books in our library are second-hand and falling apart. We have few books and book series that the students are genuinely excited to read. Providing updated options that the students have a high interest level in would provide motivation for reading time! Students have shown interest in the books requested. The books donated would be used every single day by students. Many of the books requested would also be used in author studies.
