My students, just like all of us, are very social. When they get to school, they need to be able to talk to their friends about the game they watched the night before, the song they heard on the radio on the way to school or maybe just what they had for breakfast. Starting our day with collaborative and creative work where students know the expectations and can talk while working, will help set them up for a successful day. These morning create boxes will give my students a chance to practice skills they need for the 21st century each and every day...skills like teamwork, problem-solving, STEAM and critical thinking. With these activities, I will be able to hit a variety of subjects such as math, science, literacy and writing by changing not only what is in the boxes but also the activities that go with the materials on a weekly basis.
